18 years ago today my life took on a dimension that I was not fully prepared for...my son was born. Babies are born everyday (I understand that...and we had already had two little girls,) but
having a son was such a special blessing to me.
As he has grown into the teen that he is now, he has given us a deep perspective on what it means to love and be devoted to family (he is fiercely loyal,) and I have seen myself in him more times than I can count. I have also been given a special dimension into understanding how
challenging it must have been for God the Father to send His Son Jesus to planet earth on our behalf.
Children and grandchildren can teach us so many things, and if we don't have either of these we can learn lessons from the children of our friends. In them we see fellow travelers that are learning to move forward into the world of the
unknown. They make mistakes, they falter, they have victories; but like us they are all striving to be loved, to be heard, and to be significant.
I'm going to spend some special time with my son today. He's worth it, and I want him to understand what a huge difference that he has made in my life. If you are able to reach
out to a young person today, let me challenge you to do just that. God can teach us some very special lessons when we choose to see the world through their eyes.
Have a great day and God bless!
P.S. Happy Birthday Michael. The picture attached to this e-mail is a photo of my son, Michael. He is a Senior in High School this year, and he has a friend who is a professional photographer.
