Last
week was quite a whirlwind of political activity. I don't know about you, but I'm personally glad that we're past the election cycle. No matter what our political beliefs, we have something far greater to discuss with those that we meet...the love of heaven for a world full of hurting people!
A number of our Open Word
subscriber family members have chosen to add the above holiday audio CD to their listening library. For those of you reading this who haven't had the opportunity to look into it, the story behind the creation of this project is something that God laid on my heart this past summer. It seems that we often get so caught up in the "busy-ness" of the holiday season, that we rarely contemplate the birth of Jesus Christ in the solitude of a quiet atmosphere.
"God's Greatest Gift" blends the story that surrounds the birth of Jesus Christ (through the lens of the gospel of Luke), along with soft holiday music that points the listener to contemplate this wonderful story. I had a good friend of mine (who is also a talented voice actor and Christian) help us out by reading a
portion of the scriptures in contemplative vignettes with a soft musical background. I have also included 8 soft holiday songs that all point to the birth of Christ...but without words.
With all of the political noise from last week, it would've been difficult for almost anyone to focus on the upcoming holiday season. A number of you ordered the audio CD, but also am aware many of our subscribers haven't actually had the opportunity to listen to a sample of the quality of this project.
I'm very proud of my friend Keith for such a wonderfully rich reading of the scriptural narrative. Please keep Keith in your prayers. He has been struggling with cancer and I've been lifting him up during my devotional time. Just take a listen to the golden voice that he projects as he narrates the story of God's Greatest Gift using only the New King James Bible as his script. I was thrilled with the results, and I am praying that this will be a blessing to everyone who listens to it.
