Your Open Word e-Devotional for November 14th

Hello ,

I recently picked up a bottle of fruit juice in the store...the flavor caught my eye.  The label boldly proclaimed "Mango / Peach - 100 % Juice, All Natural."

I thought it was Mango and Peach juice in the bottle until I actually read the ingredients. The first ingredient was water.  The next was apple juice, and the next was pear juice. Down in the ingredient list was the mango and peach juice.

Down at the bottom of the bottle on the label was the tell-tale sign that I wasn't actually getting only a blend of mango/peach juice if I purchased the bottle.  In very small, but easy to read letters it read, "Flavored juice blend with other natural ingredients."

The enticing pictures, and vivid colors touted delicious, dewy mangoes and peaches, each were glistening with tiny droplets of juice.  The reality was, those two fruit flavors would be somewhere down in the ingredient list along with other "natural" flavors.

Spiritual application?  What if I had the ingredients list printed on me when it comes to spiritual things?  Would Jesus be the main ingredient, or would He be somewhere down on the list, in an area that people would really have to look at to be able to discover?

My packaging may look convincing. I may act out the part of what I believe a real Christian to be, but would others be convinced that Jesus was the main ingredient, or would they have to go searching to see if it were actually true?

Jesus-flavored, or Jesus-filled?

This world is looking for the "real thing."  May God help us all to be "Jesus-filled," and not merely "Jesus-flavored."

Have a great day and God bless!
