Your open Word e-Devotional for October 20th

Published: Thu, 10/20/16

Hello ,

"In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls."  1 Peter 1:6-9  (NKJV)

There's a pretty good chance that someone reading this message (or someone you personally know), is struggling today.  If I just described your situation, you are not alone!  If I shared all of the times when I have struggled spiritually with those around me, I have often wondered if I could ever be able to show my face in public again.

I often feel like I am my own worst enemy!

Have you ever felt like that?  Have you ever looked into the mirror and asked, "Am I ever going to get through this struggle?"  It may be a financial, or something with your health, or perhaps it's spiritual and you sometimes feel like you don't know where to turn. Perhaps you struggle from depression, or feelings of hopelessness from time to time.

Whatever our situation, we have a God that knows and understands us better than we know ourselves.  He recognizes that we can't do anything without Him, and He is more patient with us...than we are with ourselves.

If you (or someone you know) is struggling this morning, please go back and re-read the passage of scripture that  shared with you at the top of the page.  God sometimes allows the fires of struggle to bring out the real genuine, spiritual gold in our lives.  If we are committed to Him, there is nothing that comes our way that he cannot help us to deal with.

God is still the One Who has loved you all along. He's never stopped loving you, and He's not going to give you up without a fight.  Ask him to help you fight the good fight of faith in Him today.  He knows, He cares, He's listening.

Have a great day and God bless!
