Hello ,
How was your day? I usually send out The Open Word e-Devotional in the morning hours, but today I wanted to send it out at a different time. I spent some
moments today reflecting on the struggles that so many people have on a fairly regular basis. Perhaps the loss of my mother last week caused me to be more purposeful in that reflection, but I thought quite a bit about today.
In the busy-ness of our daily lives we are often bombarded with challenges, pain, and moments when we don't
know what to do. I spent a few of those moments at my dying mother's bedside last week. She was heavily sedated, was struggling for every breath, and I knew that unless the Lord intervened that she probably wouldn't make it much longer. I felt helpless, and because I am often a "fixer" I was challenged with just needing to be there, rather than to "fix" something.
A song the Steven Curtis Chapman recorded a number of years ago has helped me through times of weary and alone. The tune is entitled "Be Still," and it has brought healing to my heart on a number of occasions. There are times when we simply need to recognize that God is God...and we're not. Listening to the well-written lyrics of this number causes my to ponder God's goodness, and the idea that He
is very capable of handling anything that might come my way.
I would like to extend an invitation to you to click on the picture above and have a listen to this song. If the picture doesn't click through to the video clip, you can try this link.
Sit back, relax, and ponder the wonderful thought that God is able to bring healing to your heart in ways that no one else can.
Have a great day and God bless!
