Hello ,
"Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love;
Here's my heart, O take and seal it;
Seal it for Thy courts above."
Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing - Robert Robinson, 1757
You've probably heard (or sung) the old hymn that this line comes from, but I want you to notice the year that this hymn was written in.
1757!
Think about that for a moment. This hymn was written more than 250 years ago.
Even back then people
struggled with the propensity to wander away from God.
Even back then men and women just like you and me were challenged with the tendency to lose track of where they were in their relationship with God Almighty. This hymn was written by a pastor, and yet...he struggled just like everyone else.
We're all different, but when it comes to being prone to wander...we are all the same!
"Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy..." Jude 24
We're all prone to leave the God that we should never leave, but we are promised that if we avail ourselves to even spending a little time with our Heavenly Father, that He can add immense spiritual
value to our lives.
"Lord, keep me close to You today. Help me to stay closer to you, for I cannot do that on my own. In Jesus name, amen!"
Have a great day and God bless!
