Your Open Word e-Devotional for December 29th

 Hello ,

Breath-taking would be an understatement!  As my wife and I stood among the other visitors in King Ludwig II's bedroom there was a collective silence that was palpable.  We were visiting the Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria during our trip to Germany a few years ago, and I wasn't quite prepared for what I was viewing.  The workmanship was magnificent!

Here's a photo of King Ludwig's bedroom.

If I remember correctly, we were told that the bed alone took 14 full-time wood-carvers 4 years to complete.  And that was just the bed!  In its Neo-gothic style, with a silver-plated swan fountain atop an unusual washstand, this bedroom was more than a little impressive!

Then it hit me; we Christians have something promised to us that is even more impressive than anything that man could conceive of.  We have a place being prepared for us in heaven.

Check out this verse of scripture:  John 14:2-3

Jesus promised this place long ago, and I look forward to seeing it for the very first time. There have been times in my life when I have gotten so caught up in the things of this world, that I took my eyes off the plans that God has for me.  I'm thankful that He's a patient and loving Heavenly Father.  It would be a shame if any one of us missed heaven for something temporary.

Reminds me of a bumper sticker that I saw years ago that said, "Heaven - Don't miss it for the world!"

Have a great day and God bless!
