Hello ,
The countdown is on,
and people are running around like hamsters on a wheel trying to get things done. Traffic is backing up, stores are crowded, and most people I see have that frenetic look in their eyes that says, "I have so much to do and I'm about to lose what's left of my mind!"
The haggard store employees are trying hard to keep smiling, and everywhere you turn is holiday noise...from Ho-Ho-ing Santa stuffed toys, to the various
renditions of the same songs over and over again.
Is this REALLY about the Prince of Peace? Would He REALLY want you and I to be going crazy and feeling like we're about to explode? Honestly, would Jesus want to see you and I running around feeling totally stressed and burnt out?
Now, Jesus was talking to His disciples in the narrative of this scripture about Him leaving, and what His disciples were going to do, and feel, and go through after He was gone. His words however, should have no less potency in our own lives. Often, we allow "the cares of this world" to chip away at our dependence on Him.
He never asked for that scenario, and we shouldn't feel obligated to participate in it.
Yes, we have responsibilities.
Yes, we have struggles from day to day.
We can however, give these feelings over to God and let Him replace them with peace.
Slow down, take a breath, focus on Christ.
Have a great day and God bless!
