Your Open Word e-Devotional for November 4th

Hello ,

"Hey, that looks like a wallet," I exclaimed as we pulled out onto the busy street. I pulled the car around the block and pulled into the parking lot next to where I had seen the object.

The brown wallet was laying open in the middle of the road, and I had to wait for traffic to pass before stepping out and picking it up. I could see a $20 and a few $1's sticking out of it as I looked for identification. There, smiling up at me, was the face of a 16 year old boy on a driver's license.

A quick check on my iPhone, and I retrieved his address and phone number. I called and left a message on the family's voice mail, and within an hour my phone rang. I was privileged to bring that wallet back to the family...the mother seemed especially ecstatic over its return. I left feeling good about the entire experience.

15 minutes my phone rang again. "Hi, my name is (_____), you found my wallet today and brought it back to my house?" It was the voice of the young man on the driver's license. "Yes, that's me," I replied. "I just called to say thank-you," the young man said. I could hear the smile in his voice.

A really neat experience just became even more meaningful to me. in the moment when this young man said a very simple word...."thank-you!"

Saying "thank-you" is a big deal...and it would seem that it's important to God as well. Check out the narrative in Luke 17:11-17 when you get a chance today. I think you'll enjoy reading the story once again.

God blesses us everyday in SO MANY ways. The least we can do is to thank Him.

Have a great day and God bless!
