Hello ,
"The greatest thing is to be found at one's post as a child of God, living each day as though it were our last, but planning as though our world might last a hundred years." C.S. Lewis
What would your day look like, if you knew it was your last? That doesn't have to be a sad question, and it wasn't asked to bring anyone down.
There can be a tendency to go through each day in a ho-hum way, acting as though we had all of eternity to embrace the good things that God has for us, and seeing
only dimly what God might have planned for us.
What would happen if we lived today (and every day,) like it was the very last day we were to live? I've imagined it, and here is a short list of some of the things I imagine myself doing:
- I'd speak in more loving tones to everyone I come in contact with.
- I'd forgive quicker, and harbor less resentment.
- I'd spend time with those who I most wanted to have an impact on.
- I'd pray more, and spend time reflecting on God's amazing love for me.
- I'd give people an "emotional pass" for hurting me, or getting angry with me.
I could go on and on, but you get the picture.
Here's the $64,000 question:
If I would do that on my last day, how come I can't do it today? Why can't I live like that today and everyday? Why can't I ask God for the heart and mind of Jesus Christ, and live today like it was my last?
With God's help...maybe I can!
Have a great day and God bless!
