Your Open Word e-Devotional for May 13th

Hello ,

The ability to laugh is one of the greatest gifts that we have been given, and we're blessed to enjoy it.  How long has it been since you had a "cut-loose-shake-all-over-belly-laugh" that takes over your entire body for a few moments?  You know the kind that I'm talking about; that laugh that hits you suddenly and makes your entire world just a little bit brighter for a moment?

It happened to my family a few years ago in a Wal-mart as we were shopping.  We came upon a good friend, and were enjoying an animated conversation when I did something that caused the entire party of people to laugh out loud right there in the center aisle.  I was emphatically saying something, and to punctuate the point I was attempting to make, I threw my arms out to the side. My right arm hit a sign that was right above a stack of ketchup, and the sign was sent twirling around and around on its stand before I knew what was happening.

Yes, I was a little embarrassed but the laughter that ensued was almost worth it.  It was a small unexpected thing that just randomly occurred, and everyone that was standing with us seemed to enjoy the spontaneity of it all.

The scriptures tell us that a merry heart does good like a medicine. Perhaps laughter is just the medicine you're needing today.

Thank-you Lord for the gift of laughter.  Please help me to keep my joy through my entire day. Amen!

Have a great day, and God bless!
