Hello ,
This text is a pivotal point in understanding what needs to be the focal point of our lives each and every day. It's so human to get caught up in the accumulation of stuff. Here's a short list of things that I wanted when I was a kid:
- A motorcycle
- A drum set
- A new guitar
- A horse
- Cool clothes
I have to laugh
when I look back at all of the things that I thought were so important, but then I stopped and really took inventory of all the things that I've wished for over the past 25 years of my life. Here's the short list of that:
- A house
- A nice
vehicle
- A nicer guitar (I sold the drum set I owned...it was just too noisy.)
- A boat
- An RV
Now, there's nothing inherently wrong with wanting things, but often our "life lens" needs to be readjusted
to enable us to properly focus on what is truly important. The words of Jesus ring as clear as a bell in the verse I shared at the beginning of this devotional.
Put God first!
He already knows what we need, (and I often confuse that with what I WANT.) Putting Him first in all things puts our focus where it needs to be. If He already knows how to make us truly happy, won't He give us the desires of our hearts if we commit everything that we have and are to Him?
If you own some of
the things on my short list today, please don't misunderstand what I am sharing today. Our focus is what is truly important to God.
Have a great day and God bless!
