Your Open Word e-Devotional for January 10th

Hi ,

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.  In My Father’s house are many mansions;  if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also."  John 14:1-3

Let me challenge you to think about this passage today.  Jesus is sharing a message of hope with his disciples when these words were shared, but they are messages of hope for us as well.

Jesus wants to be with us!

God is not some entity that just set the world into motion, and then left it to its own devices.  Our Creator is loving, engaged, and patient with those that he created.  His intention is to spend all of eternity with those that love Him, and from what I've read in the scriptures, the place that He is preparing for us is pretty amazing.

How does that help me today?

This world that we are living in is only temporary.  Don't misunderstand me; I love life, I love my family, and I love the blessings that my Heavenly Father has so richly poured out on me...but I long for a place where there will be no more pain, no more disease, and no more dying.

When I stop and recognize that my day (although I may be currently challenged with something in my life), is only temporary.  Better days are coming.  Jesus specifically promised it to us, and we can accept his promise through His grace and mercy.

I am praying for you today.  If there is something specific that I can lift up to heaven in your behalf, please let me know.  I will gladly pray.

Have a great day and God bless!
