Hello ,
Happy Birthday Dad...I love you!
10 years ago today, I held the gnarled hand of the toughest man I ever knew while he lay dying in his hospice bed. My father was born on this day in 1923, and not a year goes by that I don't think about him on January 2nd. He would've been 96 years old today. He was a good man, and a fantastic father.
But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others who have no hope.
1 Thessalonians 4:13
The above passage has buoyed my spirits on more than one occasion when I'm missing someone I have lost. It gives me hope to know that Christians don't have to say "good-bye," they only have to say "so long for now."
How about you?
As you head into this new year, is there someone that you are missing? Is there a special person that you miss? Perhaps you never saw yourself without them, but here you are.
God has a plan!
Let me share the following passage with you:
"For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of
the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first." 1 Thessalonians 4:14-16
May our spirits be buoyed by this amazing promise from God's Word. This life is not all that there is. Through Jesus Christ, more is coming!
Have a great day and God bless!
