Hello ,
I'm very sorry that this devotional is late this morning. During the night we had a snowstorm, and I've been running around getting things accomplished this morning in the early a.m.
The neighbor who plows our long driveway has already been here, and it looks as though we got quite an accumulation. I have the distinction of being the pastor of the coldest region in the lower 48 states, and this morning hasn't disappointed in that regard. It's cold, it's still snowing, and it's still blowing outside.
I'm not crazy about winter, but I DO love the imagery of what the snow brings to mind.
“Come now, and let us reason together,”
Says the Lord,
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
They shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall be as wool.
Isaiah 1:18 NKJV
If you have struggled with your past, or if you are currently struggling with something a little more recent, let the above verse sink in for just a moment today. The scriptures are very clear that even on our best days we still come up short. Let me show you:
But we are all like an unclean thing,
And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags;
We all fade as a leaf,
And our iniquities, like the wind,
Have taken us away.
Isaiah 64:6 NKJV
We have a God that knows and understands us. In fact, we have a Savior (Jesus Christ) who identifies with us, because He is one of us. He recognizes just how much of a challenge it can be to live on planet earth.
This morning's snow reminds me that whatever I have struggled with in the past, or am currently struggling with in the present, God is big enough to understand, to be patient with me, and to lead me on to victory.
I hope this devotional finds you totally trusting in Him.
Have a great day and God bless!
