Hello ,
A few years ago
something strange happened to me. I lost my voice! I literally lost it, and nothing I did brought it back. I had been sick before, but I don't ever recall losing my voice. A soft whisper was the only thing that would come out when I attempted to speak.
There are probably some who would say that this isn't a bad
thing, but I can tell you honestly, that I didn't like it at all! I felt like a caged animal, unable to make my wishes known, converse with my wife, or even answer the phone. It is true that one does not appreciate what one has until it is gone!
My voice came back slowly, I am thankful to have it back, and to not have
it leave me again. It did however get me pondering about what it would be like to never have the ability to talk again. My life would change dramatically! As you may know, I am a pastor, and I have yet to meet a pastor who cannot physically speak.
Jesus dealt with people who were permanently damaged in many physical
ways. Society had turned its back on many of them, but Jesus never did. He gave sight to the blind, unstopped the ears of the deaf, and made the lame to walk. He gave voice to those who didn't have one. He helped the world to see that everyone is loved and appreciated in the kingdom of God by the way He treated people...especially the people he had.
Today you may run into someone who doesn't feel very special. It's our God-given responsibility and privilege to do some small kindness to help them to understand that no matter who they are, they are special in God's sight!
Have a great day and God bless!
