Hello ,
"What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. For I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, “You shall not covet." Romans 7:7 (ESV)
How old were you when you realized that you have never really seen a full likeness of yourself from straight on?
I remember the first time that I actually thought about that for any length of time. It hit me hard, that we have only seen ourselves straight on, through the aid of a mirror, a photograph, or perhaps a reflection in a window.
We struggle to see what we really look like.
The same can be true with spiritual things. Often, we don't see the utter helplessness of ourselves, and of our plight until we look into the mirror of God's Word, the Bible.
Now, the law has no power to change our hearts, but it can give us a glimpse of how we need to be given new ones...and God specializes in doing that for us.
"And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh." Ezekiel 36:26 (ESV)
What a blessing to know that God is in our corner.
Have a great day and God bless!
