Hello ,
"This little light of mine, I'm gonna MAKE it shine."
"This little light of mine, I'm gonna ARGUE and DEBATE with people until they see it shining."
"This little light of mine, I'm gonna lay a GUILT TRIP on someone until they understand that their light needs to shine too."
The above lyrics are silly...obviously...but I put them there for a reason. There are FAR too many Christians that aren't being Biblical about their witness for Christ.
It's a very natural thing; to find Jesus, to experience His amazing love, to make Him our own, and to want others to find Him too. However, there are some very unnatural methods being used by sincere, well-meaning Christians that are not only counter-productive, but destructive in reaching people for Christ.
You KNOW what I'm talking about; the debating, the arguing, the manipulating, the coercive wrangling. There's even the "play-nice-for-a-while-until-it's-obvious-they-aren't-getting-it-and-then-get-SERIOUS-with-them" strategy. It's exhausting on both ends. These "techniques" rarely (if ever) work, and they're tiring for both the "giver" AND the "recipient."
Here's the Biblical mandate for sharing the "love of a lifetime" (IE: a relationship with Jesus.)
"Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven." Matthew 5:16
"This little light of mine, I'm gonna LET it shine."
Ahhhhh...that's better!
Have a great day and God bless!
