According to Psychology Today, in 2008, 4,000 books were published on happiness-up from 50 in 2000. I checked Amazon's holdings of books that concentrate on the subject of happiness, and in 2020, they are showing more than 7000 books that were published on this very
subject.
Does this mean that as a society we're UN-happy?
Could this possibly suggest that happiness is something that we USED to have a little more of?
I don't know the answer to those questions, but with all of the gadgets, information, and entertainment possibilities that this world has been enjoying, (ya know, all the stuff that is SUPPOSED to help us feel better, look better, and BE better,) it would seem that our quest for happiness has only increased.
My dad used to tell me, "Things don't make you happy." The older I get the more convinced I am that he was right, (even though I really wanted that Coleco-Vision "Pong" Video Game when he shared those sentiments with me.)
"...happy is that people, whose God is the Lord." Psalm 144:15
Is it possible that the farther that we get away from our Creator, that the closer we move toward despair and unhappiness?
"Lord, please help me to really internalize that being Your child can help me to be truly happy in this life, and for eternity. In Jesus name, amen!"
Have a great day and God bless!
