Hello ,
If you're the typical harried American you don't have time to sit down with good friends and play an entire game of Monopoly. But now there's good news: Monopoly's makers, Hasbro, have launched a version of Monopoly that will end in about 30 minutes. The vice president of marketing for Hasbro said, "Parents and children tell us they want a quick ... friction-less
gaming experience."
More and more, it would seem that people are struggling with schedules and time constraints. Who would have ever thought that we would have a Monopoly game that runs about 30 minutes? I'm not a huge Monopoly fan, but somehow, that just doesn't seem right?
This kind of "friction-less" mindset can often bleed over into our spiritual lives as well...if we're not careful. The temptation to be a "microwave" Christian (a person that reads a sentence or two about something spiritual, and breathes a prayer with their hand on the doorknob as they're leaving for work,) is very real for many people, and society would often tell us that
it's O.K.
The world needs less "microwave Christians, and more of the "slow-cooker" variety. Having a deep personal walk with Jesus takes time, effort, and commitment...but it's worth it. A quick Monopoly game is acceptable. A harried and quick spiritual life shouldn't
be.
Lord, help me to keep my priorities straight...and help me to keep You at the top of the list. In Jesus name, amen!
Have a great day and God bless!
