Jeremy Affeldt, a relief pitcher
for the San Francisco Giants, discovered a clerical error that caused him to be overpaid by half a million dollars. When Affeldt asked for advice, all three of his expert opinions told him that he was legally entitled to keep the money. But that still didn't sit well with this athlete who identifies himself as a
Christian.
Affeldt's agent, Michael Moye,
told him, "As your agent I've got to tell you that legally you can keep it. As a man who represents integrity, I'm saying you should give it back." And that's what Affeldt did. He said, "I can't take that money. I won't sleep well at night knowing I took that money because every time I open my paycheck I'll know it's not
right."
I've never experienced a clerical
"error" of this magnitude, but is the size of the error really the issue?
For we aim at what is honorable
not only in the Lord's sight but also in the sight of man. 2 Corinthians 8:21
Actions speak louder than words.
"Lord, help me to show the world that I am sold out to You...today and every day. Amen."
Have a great day and God
bless!
