The award-winning TV series Mad Men revolves around the conflicted world of Don Draper, the biggest ad man (and ladies man) in the business. Draper's high level position at the Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce Advertising Agency gives him all the money and power a man could want, and he wields it throughout each episode. During the show's first episode, titled "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes," Draper explains to a woman in the office the essence
of his marketing job and his entire world view:
"What you call love was invented by guys like me, to sell nylons. You're born alone and you die alone and this world just drops a bunch of rules on top of you to make you forget those facts. But I never forget. I'm living like there's no tomorrow, because there isn't one."
Sadly, many people share this television character's world view of how life is, and how it all works.
What would you be without hope? What would your life look like if you didn't have faith in God, and in His ability to save you? Take a few moments to contemplate these ideas today. If you're anything like me, you're incredibly thankful for the hope that we have in a God that loves us.
Have a great day and God bless!
