Hello ,
“Fight the good fight of faith, lay
hold on eternal life.” — 1 Timothy 6:12
“This is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” — 1 John 5:4
There are moments in the Christian life when faith feels natural — when prayers flow
easily, hope feels steady, and God’s presence seems unmistakable.
But there are also seasons when faith feels more like resistance than rest. Questions linger, circumstances press in, and the heart quietly wonders whether trusting God is worth the struggle.
It is in those moments that Scripture’s language becomes especially meaningful: faith is described as a fight. Not a fight against people, but a fight against discouragement, doubt, fear, distraction, and the subtle temptation to give up.
A pastor once told the story of watching a marathon runner
during the final mile of a race. The runner’s pace had slowed, his face showed exhaustion, and his legs trembled with every step. Yet he kept moving forward. When asked afterward what kept him going, he replied, “I didn’t run the whole race because it felt good. I ran because I decided finishing mattered.”
Faith operates much the same
way. It is sustained not by constant emotional momentum but by settled conviction.
The victory John speaks of is not the absence of struggle but the presence of trust that endures through it. Fighting the good fight of faith means choosing trust when clarity is limited, choosing obedience when comfort would be easier, and choosing hope when
circumstances appear unchanged.
It is the quiet determination to keep walking with God even when the path feels steep.
Faith does not eliminate hardship; it reframes hardship within the
larger story of redemption. It reminds us that unseen realities are more enduring than visible pressures and that God’s promises remain trustworthy even when fulfillment seems delayed.
Over the next five days, we will explore what it means to fight this good fight in practical, everyday ways — in our thoughts, decisions, waiting seasons, and
perseverance. Together we will reflect on how faith grows not in perfect conditions but in real life, where uncertainty and hope coexist.
As we begin this journey, consider where your own fight of faith is taking place. Perhaps it is in unanswered prayer, a difficult relationship, lingering grief, or a future that feels unclear.
Wherever the struggle resides, take heart: the call to fight is also the assurance that God walks with you in the battle. And every step of trust, no matter how small, is part of a victory already unfolding.
