Hello ,
Joy That Survives the Storm
Scriptures:
“The joy of the Lord is your strength.” — Nehemiah 8:10
“These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may be in you.” — John 15:11
Joy is often confused with happiness, but they are not the same. Happiness depends on what is happening around you. Joy depends on who is holding you.
History gives us many examples of people who discovered joy in unlikely places. One of the most striking comes from believers who were
imprisoned for their faith. They lost freedom, comfort, and security—yet many wrote letters filled with hope, gratitude, and even praise. Their circumstances were bleak, but their joy remained intact because it was rooted in God, not in ease.
Biblical joy does not deny pain. It does not pretend everything is fine. Instead, it declares that God is still good,
still present, and still faithful—even when life hurts. That kind of joy is resilient. It bends but does not break.
Joy grows when we trust God’s character more than our current situation. Jesus spoke about joy on the night before His crucifixion. He knew suffering was coming, yet He spoke of joy because He trusted the Father’s plan completely.
Many people chase joy by trying to control outcomes. But Scripture shows us that joy comes from surrender, not control. When we release our need to manage everything and place our lives in God’s hands, joy begins to grow quietly but steadily.
Today, God invites you to trust Him with whatever weighs on your heart. You do not need to feel joyful to receive joy. You simply need to remain close to Him. The Spirit will do the growing.
