Hello ,
Scripture: John 14:27 — “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.”
We often imagine peace as a quiet life—no conflict, no uncertainty, no unanswered questions. But Jesus offered peace in the shadow of the cross. His
promise came not after the storm passed, but as it was gathering.
In 1943, during World War II, a bombing raid struck London with devastating force. A schoolteacher later recalled finding her students calm and seated during the explosions. When asked why they weren’t afraid, one child said, “Our teacher was here.” The presence of a trusted guide didn’t
remove the danger, but it stabilized their fear.
Jesus offers peace the same way—not by eliminating chaos, but by remaining present within it. “My peace,” He says. Not manufactured calm. Not denial. Not distraction. His peace is relational, rooted in who He is, not in what circumstances are doing.
Anxiety tells us that if things are unsettled, we must be too. Christ counters that lie. Peace is not the absence of disruption; it is the presence of God amid disruption.
This is why Paul could later write, “The peace of God…will guard your hearts
and your minds” (Philippians 4:7). Notice the language of defense. Peace stands watch when anxiety threatens to invade.
If you feel anxious today, it does not mean you lack faith. It means you are human. The question is not whether fear knocks, but whether peace is invited to stay.
Have a great day and God bless!
