Dear Friend and Subscriber,

As we approach another holiday season and prepare to close out another year, my heart is full when I think about the journey of The Open Word Daily e-Devotional. 

When the very first devotional went out in November of 2009, I could not have imagined that God would sustain this ministry for nearly seventeen years. We literally had less than 10 subscribers for the first year, and now there are hundreds. I had no idea that God would lead us this way.

Yet here we are — not because of my strength, consistency, or ability, but because God has been faithful every single morning.

There were seasons when life was calm and the devotionals flowed with ease… and there were seasons when I could barely think of what might be devotionally meaningful to my subscribers. 

During the time of my heart attack and the long road through transplant recovery, there was a brief pause — but even then, God held this ministry close. He gave my daughter, Taylor the strength and quick learning capabilities to carry it forward while I recovered and learned to walk again.

When He strengthened me where I could take the "reins" back, He made it clear: as long as He gives me breath, He will continue sending His Word through this little ministry in whatever way He chooses, until He makes it clear that it has run it's course.

The Open Word Daily e-Devotional has never survived because of human effort. It has survived because of God’s provision, God’s timing, and God’s heart for His people. 

I’m simply grateful to have been a vessel He uses.

As we step into year seventeen, I want to humbly ask for two things:

First, would you keep me and this ministry in prayer?
Pray that God continues to guide each devotional, that His Spirit breathes life into every word, and that His encouragement reaches every inbox right when it is needed most. Prayer is the foundation that has carried this devotional from day one. I am convinced of that.
