Hello ,
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.” — Psalm 103:2
“Every good and perfect gift is from
above…”
— James 1:17
Thankfulness fades when familiarity grows. Even miracles become “normal” if we see them long enough.
In
2010, Chilean miners were trapped underground for 69 days after a mine collapse. Families gathered above the earth, praying, waiting, hoping. When the rescue capsule finally lifted each miner to the surface, the world watched as one man fell to his knees, lifted his hands, and shouted, “¡Gracias, Señor!”—“Thank You, Lord!”
That moment shook millions,
not because it was dramatic, but because gratitude had become rare. In a world trained to complain, here was a man celebrating oxygen, sunlight, and the touch of his family.
Psalm 103 begins with a command to our own souls: “Forget not.” Why? Because we do forget. We forget answered prayers. We forget the doors God opened. We forget the battles we
didn’t win on our own. And when forgetfulness grows, gratitude dies.
David lists God’s benefits—not because God needs reminding, but because we do. He forgives, He heals, He redeems, He crowns, He satisfies. Every line is an invitation to remember what God has already done.
Gratitude is a spiritual reset button. It clears the fog. It humbles the heart. It opens our eyes to blessings we walk past every day. When we practice thanksgiving, we are re-training the soul to see God at work even in ordinary moments.
Try this today:
- Remember a prayer God answered years ago.
- Name one blessing you overlook now because it feels routine.
- Thank God intentionally for something you normally treat as automatic.
-
We forget too easily. But Scripture calls us to remember deliberately.
Because every breath, every sunrise, every mercy—old or new—is a gift worth thanking Him for...TODAY, and every day!
Have a great day and God bless!
