Hello ,
For those young people who thought they knew everything about love, now there's a college course about it. The University of Sioux Falls, S.D. is now offering a class entitled "Finding Dates Worth Keeping."
Although the course of study only rewards one credit, the instructor, relationship counselor and licensed therapist Laurie Chapman believes it will be well worth
attending. She believes that our love relationships impact our lives more than anything else. I tend to agree.
However, there's been a course of study that's thousands of years old about love that many individuals have left by the wayside. It's found (interestingly enough) in the Bible, in the first book of Corinthians.
If you're not familiar with this "divine
disclosure" of what love really is, it's worth taking a serious look. Chapter 13 explains in detail what love does and doesn't do, but it's not just talking about dating advice. It goes much deeper, and if taken literally by all inhabitants of planet earth, it would quite literally change our world in a very positive way. Here's just a sample:
"Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.
Love doesn't strut, doesn't have a swelled head,
doesn't force it's way on others..."(1 Corinthians 13:5).
Potentially Life Altering
The list of love's attributes is simple, profound, and potentially life altering. There's only one
tiny problem; we can't love in these ways without divine assistance. There's no college course to show us how to carry out these seemingly unrealistic mandates. We're simply not going to perform them without a heart change.
That's a tall order, but God has us covered. Listen to this incredible claim:
"I'll give you a new heart, and put a new spirit within
you. I'll remove the stone heart from your body and replace it with a heart that's God-willed, not self willed" (Ezekiel 36:26).
This is better than any college course because God is our instructor, and the Bible tells us that God is love.
Have a great day and God bless!
