Hello ,
On July 8th of 2012, Bible scholar Craig S. Keener wrote a short article for The Huffington Post titled "Jesus Existed." He started the article with a simple premise: "Contrary to some scholars on the Internet, very few scholars today doubt that Jesus existed, preached and led a movement."
That's not exactly a controversial statement, but if you want to understand the
mood of many people in our culture, just read the comments section for Keener's article. Not only did people disagree with Keener's basic premise, the comments showed outright hostility to the fact that Jesus might have lived.
Here's one example: "The real point is not if Jesus existed (there is no physical evidence that he did), the point
really is that he was not important .... He was only important to those who were inspired by tales told of him."
There's an anti-God sentiment in our culture that's frightening--but of course that's exactly what the scriptures predicted. For a reminder of what the Bible shares regarding the days we're living in, please go and read
2 Timothy 3:1-7 Many things can be argued when it comes to spirituality, but there is one thing that trumps all arguments...at least in my mind. I cannot find any argument
against the reality of a living Christ that trumps my experience with Him and what He has done for me and my family...especially over the past 2 years.
Our testimony is one of the most powerful arguments that we have in favor of the gospel. Sadly, many people who claim Christianity don't have a positive testimony to give. In order to talk about the change that God has
brought into our lives, we must have had an experience of change in our lives to actually talk about.
Question for Today: Am I allowing God to work in my life to bring actual change into WHO I am and WHERE I'm headed?
Have a great day and God bless!
