Hello ,
In the quiet town
of Köniz, Switzerland, a mallard duck recently became an unexpected celebrity when it was caught flying over the speed limit—yes, you read that right—by a roadside speed camera. The duck was clocked at 52 km/h (32 mph) in a 30 km/h zone. Amusing as the story is, what truly captured public attention was that this exact thing had happened at the same location and on the same date, seven years earlier.
Officials even joked that it might be a “repeat offender.”
We can learn a lot from speeding ducks!
While this lighthearted incident has brought joy and laughter to many, it offers
a profound spiritual lesson: Nothing escapes God's notice, and nothing is random in His timing.
1. God Sees Everything — Even the Unseen
The idea of a bird triggering a speed camera designed for cars is not only ironic—it’s a reminder of how technology, created by man to enforce order, is limited in scope and
understanding. But God’s eyes are never limited. He doesn't miss the fast-flying duck—or the weary heart of His child. Proverbs 15:3 tells us, “The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.”
Just as the duck unknowingly flew into a camera’s lens, we too often go about life unaware of God’s attentive presence. He sees the faithful act that no one else notices. He sees the
burden you carry in silence. He sees the motives behind our actions, whether pure or prideful. Nothing is lost on Him.
2. There Are No Coincidences with God
What are the chances that the same type of bird would fly the same speed at the same place on the same date, seven years apart? Statistically, they’re slim to none. Yet it happened. People may laugh and call it coincidence, but
for believers, it can serve as a gentle reminder: God is sovereign over even the smallest details.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us, “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” This includes oddball stories like a speeding duck—and every moment of your life. If God can orchestrate such a peculiar moment, how much more intentional is He in guiding your
steps?
3. Grace over Guilt
No ticket was issued. The duck was “caught,” but not punished. That echoes a powerful truth of the Gospel: God sees our sins, but He offers grace instead of condemnation through Christ.
Romans 8:1 declares, “There is therefore now no condemnation for
those who are in Christ Jesus.” While man’s justice demands punishment, God’s mercy offers redemption. Being “caught” in sin doesn’t mean you’re cast off—it means you’re seen, known, and lovingly invited to repent and return.
Have a great day, and God bless!
