Hello ,
"God's wonderful works which happen daily are lightly esteemed, not because they are of no import but because they happen so constantly and without
interruption. Man is used to the miracle that God rules the world and upholds all creation, and because things daily run their appointed course, it seems insignificant, and no man thinks it worth his while to meditate upon it and to regard it as God's wonderful work, and yet it is a greater wonder than that Christ fed five thousand men with five loaves and made wine from water."
Martin Luther
Martin Luther lived what he preached. He was not a perfect man, but he lived during a time of intense religious upheaval and struggle.
When my wife and I traveled to Germany, I had the privilege of standing in the pulpit where Martin Luther preached his last sermon. As I stood there, it brought to my mind just how many trials were endured during the time when he preached to a waiting audience.
The churches were not heated (many of them still
aren't,) people worked hard to earn enough to keep their family's fed, and persecution abounded. Yet Martin Luther saw God's wonderful works during an amazingly trying time in history.
How appropriate that Dr. Luther would have such an amazing testimony to God's work in his life, and in the life of others. God brought him through
incredible odds, and sustained him throughout his life.
We too experience the wonderful works of God in our daily lives. Could it be that we need to look for them a little more closely?
Have a great day and God bless!
