Hello ,
About this time of the year, (in the colder
climates,) some gardeners peruse through seed catalogs as they look forward to better weather. Having good quality seeds is important, but so is the soil that you plant them in. Jesus knew that the parable in today's scripture would bring understanding to the masses.
Spiritually, the soil that Jesus was speaking about can be
akin to our minds and how we receive the "seed," (the Word of God.) Life gets busy, and often it can choke the life out of our spirituality if we're not carefully guarding it. Prayer for better understanding, and a heart that receives God's Word with joy and anticipation is needful if we are to see a good "crop" in our spiritual lives.
