Hello ,
In 1858 the Illinois legislature--using an obscure statute--sent Stephen A. Douglas to the U.S. Senate instead of Abraham Lincoln, although Lincoln had won the popular vote. When a sympathetic friend asked Lincoln how he felt, he said, "Like the boy who stubbed his toe: I am too big to cry and too badly hurt to laugh."
There are times in every Christian's life when they feel like Lincoln did after such a devastating defeat. They put on a brave face, grit their teeth, and smile through their private pain. If you have ever struggled like this, you know what I am talking about. It can be very easy to look at others and say, "How come they seem to be doing so well, and I'm struggling so hard?"
There is One though, who understands our heartache. He recognizes our inabilities to brush aside the hurt that we encounter through loss, and He invites us to come to Him for help and healing. He's the only one who can bind our wounds in a way that will bring true healing, and He waits for us to bring our pain to Him.
Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” Hebrews 13:5-6
Have a great day and God bless!
