Hello ,
It was all I could
think about as I lay in ICU at Mayo Clinic after my heart attack.
After being intubated and having so many medical "tubes" down my throat, the only things that sounded good to me were tart apples, and cold, juicy strawberries.
I craved them in ways that I have never desired any other food before, and I would've given a crisp $100 bill for a bowl of them. Because of possible complications I wasn't allowed to eat them at that time.
My throat felt as
parched and dry as the Sahara desert, and just the thought of eating a cold juicy strawberry made my craving for it even more acute.
I can still recall when I was able to eat fruit once again. Although it was only a small bowl of canned peaches that the hospital cafeteria served to me, I thoroughly enjoyed eating them, and
asked for more at the next meal. I had no idea how much I would miss fruit until I didn't have it anymore.
"As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country." Proverbs 25:25
Every day, you and I meet people who are craving the good news of the gospel. They may not even realize what they're craving, they may not even be able to put a name to it; but I am convinced that so many of them have God-shaped holes in their hearts that only Jesus can fill.
Let's remember today, that we can be shining examples of Christ-like love to everyone we meet. God has promised to open doors of opportunity for us to share our witness to others about what the gospel has done for us!
Have a great day and God bless!
