Hello ,
Day #7 - The Gift of Eternal Life
I've tried to think of the idea of "forever" a number of times during my life, but I always end up struggling to wrap my brain around it. We live in a "temporary" world where everything changes, and sometimes it's difficult to think of anything
being permanent.
I heard a pastor speaking a number of years ago, and he talked about what forever might be like. It was the closest I've ever come to actually grasping it I think. Let me share it with you:
Imagine in your mind, a steel ball bearing
the size of a Volkswagon Beetle. Can you see it? Good!
Now, imagine a tiny mosquito buzzing towards that steel ball bearing. Bzzzzzzzzzz. That tiny little mosquito goes by, and its little transparent wing just grazes that large steel ball bearing.
Can you imagine it? I hope so.
Now, imagine 1000 years going by. Tick, tick, tick, tick.
The steel ball bearing is still there, and after a thousand years, here comes another tiny mosquito. Bzzzzzzzzzzzz. It's little, transparent wing once again grazes the steel ball bearing.
Another 1000 years goes by. Tick, tick, tick, tick.
The steel ball bearing is still there, and after a thousand years, here comes another tiny mosquito. Bzzzzzzzzzzzz. It's little, transparent wing once again grazes the steel ball bearing.
You get the picture, but here's the point: When that steel ball bearing becomes totally
worn down by the little transparent wings of the mosquitoes grazing it, forever will have just begun.
Forever is a long, long, long time!
'For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 3:23
What a gift, what an opportunity.
What a God we have that loves us!
Have a great day and God bless!
