Hello
Day #6 - The Gift of Repentance
Did you know that you and I couldn't even be sorry for the sin in our lives unless God was giving that to us as a gift?
When I was growing up, I sometimes didn't act very nice. If I done something mean to someone else, and my mother saw me do it, she would always tell me, "Say you're sorry Mike!"
There was only one tiny problem with being told to say that I was sorry to someone else. Sometimes I wasn't sorry! In fact, sometimes I would say that I was sorry, but in my heart I would think to myself, "I'm really NOT sorry." I only said it because I didn't want to get into trouble.
"Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?" Romans 2:4 (NKJV)
If it wasn't for God's goodness, I
wouldn't even desire to have sorrow for the sin in my life. He gives this to me as a gift of His goodness, and my heart is changed from not being all that sorry, to truly being repentant.
Our God is an amazing gift-giver.
Have a great day and God bless!
