Hi ,
Just over 80 days
ago, this was me attempting to walk for the first time since my heart attack:

Since then, I’ve had my heart transplant, have walked a path of rehab, have gone through two in-house programs, have moved into an outpatient housing facility with my wife, Roberta, and am now walking
(somewhat) independently, using an assistive walking device.
I have been slowly re-learning to cook meals in the kitchen, and can now take my own shower (which may not seem like a big deal), but it’s a huge accomplishment for someone who couldn’t do much of anything without heavy assistance (just a few months ago).
In
early May, I flat-lined for 5+ minutes before the paramedics were able to bring me back. s than 10%) chance of survival. I was air-lifted from Bismarck to Mayo, It was very “touch and go” regarding whether (or not) I would even make it into the facility.
I’ve had many conversations with nurses who later told me, “I was convinced that you would not survive, but I wanted you to remain positive and hopeful.”
One nurse told me, "I used to leave your room, choking back tears because I could see you were fading fast, and you had such a supportive and loyal family who would be devastated by your passing."
I don’t share this to show anyone what “I” have accomplished. I put this video here to show what your prayers can accomplish, and to give witness to what a powerful God we have. If “deserves” had anything to do with
it, I would’ve been in the ground in early May. God has been merciful to me, and I praise His Holy name.
Whatever you’ve got going on in your life that may seem insurmountable, please keep on praying to our God Who never sleeps, and never stops loving His children.
He loves us, and is capable of saving to the
uttermost (according to His eternal will).
God is able!
(The above was written by Pastor Mike. I (Taylor), am still the behind-the-scenes person of The Open Word, as Daddy is continuing
on the path of recovery.
In September, Pastor Mike will begin easing back into The Open Word with one e-devotional per week. I know how much each of you miss his daily encouragement, and am so happy that he is feeling a bit more up for writing, once again.)
