Hi ,
“I’d give anything for her to feel pain.” That’s what her mother said. It’s a rare condition anhidrosis, or CIPA –– a rare genetic disorder that renders people
unable to feel pain. But we need to realize that pain is there for a reason. Pain helps us to know that something is wrong.
Early childhood is a time that can be treacherous for people with a complete insensitivity to pain. They can gnaw endlessly on their own tongues and fingers during
teething, stick their fingers in their eyes, or suffer major injuries without even noticing.
If diagnosed soon enough, sufferers can learn by example what conditions to avoid even without having the sensation of pain as their
guide.
Revelation 21:4 promises that there is coming a day when there will be “no more pain.” Not because of a genetic disorder, but because “former things have passed
away.” No more pain not because of a medical condition, but because conditions have changed.
When we are hurting, we would do well to live in the hope of better things to come and we can put today’s pain in the proper context if we see it as it’s seen in
His eyes.
