Hi
As promised, here is the much anticipated update, post-transplant. Pastor Mike did pull through surgery!!
Unfortunately, during the procedure, upon removing the Impella device, the surgical team discovered a large blood clot. This was very much
unanticipated by the physicians, who were working on him. They shared with us that though they believe they were able to remove the entire clot, there is concern that a portion of it broke off, prior to surgery. That raises concern for a near-future embolism. Beyond the concern for a rogue, traveling clot, the rest of the transplant went beautifully. The surgeon shared with us that they were very pleased with the outcome.
Right now, Daddy is resting in his room, and being closely monitored. He was a bit acidotic, this morning, and was promptly given treatment for that. They did wean him off sedation, just long enough to check his neurologic function. Everything appears to be intact, thereof. He has been re-sedated. The team is hoping to be able to extubate him, later this afternoon, but it is not yet a sure plan. They are taking things really slowly and carefully, for which
we are grateful.
As we wait, we are hopeful that his vitals will remain stable, and he will be in the clear soon. Please continue to pray with us for healing and restoration.
Warmest regards,
Taylor Miller (Pastor Mike's eldest daughter)
