Hello ,
"And, we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28
I used to hear this verse when I was growing up, whenever anyone experienced trial and struggle in their lives. When trouble would arise, someone would quote this verse as a way to try to make themselves (or someone else) feel better.
As a young person, I always felt like it was a "cop-out" to
quote this verse when people experienced any sort of trouble.
That notion stemmed (partly) from my environment, and (partly) from a lack of understanding of what this verse actually means.
This verse doesn't say, "All things are good."
It says "All things work together FOR good."
Huge difference!
We serve a Creator Who can take the challenges that we experience in this life, and bring about eternal good...for our benefit, because of those struggles.
The passage doesn't dismiss our suffering, it acknowledges our struggle in a way that can bring hope and comfort while we're suffering.
God is good...all the time!
Have a great day and God bless!
