Hello ,
"The one who refuses correction despises himself,
but whoever listens to reproof acquires understanding."
Proverbs
15:32
Everything in my world seemed so "fuzzy" all the time; and then, I got my first pair of corrective lenses. I can still recall the first time I put them on. It was like a brand new world emerged before my eyes, with vibrant color, and vivid clarity. My understanding of things (simply through my eyesight), became clearer than I had imagined it was
possible.
God's word is given to us for a number of reasons. "Rebuke" is one of those reasons that many people shy away from the scriptures.
Who wants to be corrected?
There can be such negative connotations to recognizing that we've been wrong. It can make us feel foolish and taken advantage of, for believing something that wasn't true.
I heard a quote once, that went something like this: "If you think education is
expensive, count the cost of ignorance."
God's word wasn't put into place so that we could find it agreeable to our wants and desires. It was given to us for our edification and understanding. To be "rebuked" by God's word can cur deeply when it's first encountered, but the alternative can be eternally damaging.
Have a great day and God bless!
