Hello ,
I may have shared this before, but a number of years ago our family had some "bum lambs." I didn't even know what that phrase meant before we acquired these furry little beasts, but I learned very quickly that these were baby sheep that didn't have a mother (for whatever reason).
My kids "adopted" a number of them, promising to feed them at all hours of the day and night, and assuring me that wouldn't have to be responsible for any of their care. Two weeks later, I found myself standing in our garage at 2 in the morning, with bottles in my hands, feeding the new members of our family.
I'll admit it, I got kind of attached to those little lambs, and one of them (we called her "Smarty-pants") became especially fond of me. She would follow me everywhere, and when I would call her she would come running. She knew my voice, and when I would holler to her, she would make her way to me as fast as she could.
John 10:5 became much more real to me, after having "bum lambs." The Good Shepherd wants us to come in close to Him, to have a tight relationship with us that will help us recognize His voice when He is speaking.
Have a great day and God bless!
