Hello ,
"And when He got into the boat, he who had been demon-possessed begged Him that he might be with Him. However, Jesus did not permit him, but said to him, “Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on
you.” And he departed and began to proclaim in Decapolis all that Jesus had done for him; and all marveled." Mark 5:18-20
This is just a 3-verse "snippet" of an amazing story found in Mark chapter 5. Let me challenge you
to go and read the entire chapter, today (it shouldn't take more than 7-8 minutes).
This is such a "content-rich" story that it's difficult to parse out just one principle that comes from its reading. A principle that jumps out at me though, is this idea that the man who has been freed from his chains, begs to
spend more time with Jesus Christ after he has been set free.
There is something about being set free from sin, that causes one to want to spend more and more time with Jesus after they have experienced that freedom.
This man is no exception.
Notice, that Jesus (instead), encouraged the man to share what God has done for him, and this passage tells us that his testimony to those who knew about him before he was set free, was a powerful
one.
I've met so many people who think that God can't do anything with them; that their "witness" is null and void because of the sinful life that they have served. The exact opposite is actually true. When people see what God can do for us, they can often be brought to a point of wondering what God might do for
them, as well.
Don't ever underestimate what God can do with your testimony to others. When we share something from our experiences, it can be a powerful way to bring the love of Christ to someone else who may be hurting.
How will God help you share your witness, today?
Have a great day and God bless!
