Hello ,
During this time of the year, the church that I pastor holds a holiday "cookie exchange." If you're unfamiliar with this concept, let quickly explain it to you.
- I make and bring 6 dozen
of one particular kind of cookie.
- Everyone else does the same thing.
- Every participant puts out their cookies out on a single platter.
- Every participant then goes around the table and picks out 6 cookies of EACH cookie that has been brought to the exchange.
- Everyone goes home with a variety of delicious cookie treats.
I must confess that staying out of the cookie tin on the way home is legitimate challenge for me.
Each cookie is unique, different, and becomes a part of the same goal: A successful cookie exchange.
"For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function." Romans 12:4
As members of the body of Christ, we are all very different. We're supposed to be!
We have different gifts, different dispositions, different personalities.
If given over into God's care and keeping, these differences can work together for the successful outcome of inviting more people into a relationship with God.
When someone gives
their heart to Jesus, it's sweeter than any cookie exchange, and the eternal ramifications will only be fully understood on the other side of heaven.
Have a great day and God bless!
Pastor Mike / The Open Word
