Hello ,
“Say it, don’t spray
it!”
That’s a sentence that kids used on each other (when I was younger), and someone got a little too close for comfort while they were talking.
Sometimes words can seem like that when they’re flying at you, and the person that’s using them doesn’t seem to be holding back with the verbal venom.
Often, we’re so shocked at what is assaulting our ears, that we lose our train of thought for a few moments.
What
might feel justified, isn’t always how God would have us communicate.
- We could scream and yell. That’s out of control, and doesn’t appear very mature.
- We could say biting words back at them.It might make us feel better in the moment, but it doesn’t help any situation that I’ve ever been involved in.
- Sometimes, the best that we can do is to give a quiet answer, or none at all.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.”
God’s not looking for clever people who are good on their feet, and can cut someone else down to size.
His highest goal for His children (and their relationships with one another), is for them to be at peace.
Family members don’t always get along, but they’re still family…and that can be especially true for the family of God.
We’re a messy bunch, but everyone still should be treated with respect and dignity.
“Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.”
Soft answers demand changed hearts, if we’re going to do it God’s way.
God has offered that to us in Ezekiel 36:26.
No one can have a new heart without His work. That new heart will generate good communication on the ones who are willing to receive it.
Not always…but God says
that a soft answer is the right way to communicate with one another.
“But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those
who make peace.”
Have a great day and God bless!
