Hello ,
Then they came to Him, bringing a paralytic who was carried by four men. And when they could not come near Him because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where He was. So when they had broken through, they let down the bed on which the paralytic was lying.
Mark 2:3-4
Just looking at these two verses in the gospel of Mark, a few facts emerge very quickly:
- There was a group of people who wanted to bring their paralytic
friend to Jesus for healing.
- The place was crowded, and these friends of the paralytic man couldn't even get close him to Jesus.
- They improvised (because the situation warranted it), and uncovered materials on the roof of the place so that they could get their friend in front of Jesus
Do you have any friends like this in your life? If so, it's something that you can praise God about! These kinds of people who do, are "solid gold," have our eternal futures at the forefront of their minds, and we can be grateful that God put them in our lives.
What would you do to help a friend to get in front of Jesus Christ? It's a potent question that I've asked myself many times. I am so flawed and fallible, that there is (quite often), a great deal of self-doubt when it comes to doing what is necessary (or even know what to do) in bringing a friend to meet Jesus.
It is
when I feel that self-doubt creeping in, that I remember that God only asks me for my availability, and not necessarily for me ability. I don't have to have all the answers, but I can be a friend.
May God help each of us to be the kind of friend to others, that would do what is necessary in connecting them to Christ!
Have a great day and God bless!
