Hello ,
"Bibles that are falling apart are usually owned by people whose lives aren't falling apart." Author Unknown
About a week and a half ago, I had the privilege of sharing the message at the funeral of a friend's father. I knew the man pretty well myself, and it was an honor to bring words of comfort during his service.
There was something quiet different about the service, though. Although it was difficult for anyone who knew him to say "good-bye," there was a marked "quiet confidence" during our time spent together.
One of the centerpieces of my message, was the Bible that was owned by this gentleman. It looked like it had seen better days, and there was duct-tape holding some of the binding on that old book. It was a joy to look at it, and a blessing for everyone to see just how tattered and worn it was.
Of all the things that we should wear out in this world, a Bible should take first place, in my humble opinion. God's word has so much to offer us; not only in preparing for eternity, but also for living our lives in the here and now.
There's something about leafing through the pages of the Bible for me; and whether you look at a book, or read the scriptures from a tablet, or a laptop, I hope you take the precious scriptures into your heart every day.
Have a great day and God bless!
