Hello ,
During the Battle of the Wilderness in the Civil War, Union general John Sedgwick was inspecting his troops. At one point he came to a parapet, over which he gazed out in the direction of the enemy.
His officers suggested that this was unwise and perhaps he ought to duck while passing the parapet. "Nonsense," snapped the general. "They couldn't hit an elephant at this dist--."
A moment later Sedgwick fell to the ground, fatally wounded. *
"Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall." Proverbs 16:18
If we think for a moment that our adversary doesn't have us in his sights, we are sorely mistaken. Each and every day he seeks to trip us up and bring pain and devastation into our lives.
Staying close to Jesus will insure that we are right where we need to be.
Lord, help me to see that without you I am nothing. Amen.
Have a great day and God bless!
