Yesterday, my friend parked her car at the EV charging station in our building as she does every week. She has an app on her phone that she uses to pay for the service. The app also lets her know when her car is done charging so that she can move it to allow others to use the same service. When the chargers are all taken by other users, the app lets her know when one becomes available.
Yesterday, the app let her know that there was a charging problem. Over the weekend, updates had been made to the EV stations. When my friend came in to work, the station looked fine. The screen was all lit up, and on the surface everything looked normal. But when she tried to use her phone application, she got an error message that the phone was unable to communicate or connect to the station.
She tried another port, but got the same error message. When another user in the building saw her struggling with it, he confirmed that he had the same problem connecting his phone with the charger.
I'm sure you have your own applications, but here were some of the things I thought of:
1. God is our ultimate source of power. He gives us his power freely, and he is never consumed with taking care of the needs of just one or two at a time. We never need to wait in line or use a special app to connect with him.
2. We still need to make an effort to "plug in" to God's power through prayer and worship.
3. A lot of times we appear "just fine" on the surface, but we are not connected to God, which leaves us depleted.
4. If we are not connected to God's power (if we haven't been feeding our relationship with him), we have no resources to help ourselves or others.
I was blessed by these thoughts, and it reminded me of a verse of scripture:
"I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing." John 15:5
Even with the technology that we use everyday, we can still find applications in the spiritual realm. What are some of the spiritual applications that you thought of when you read this story? I'd love to hear them...and I'll re-send them to Esther. :)
Have a great day and God bless!
