Here is Day #3 of the "7 Days of Gifts" sequence. Sorry for the confusion!
Day #3 - Repentance
"Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?" Romans 2:4
I have known so many people throughout my
ministry that actually believe that somehow, someway, if they work hard enough...that they can be truly repentant for the sinfulness of their past lives.
It doesn't work like that!
"Can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard its spots? Then may you also do good who are accustomed to do evil." Jeremiah 13:23
You and I have to
simply rely on God's goodness that will lead us to repentance. Sin has taken such a toil on the human race, that we really struggle with even being truly sorry for what sin has done to us.
I can't make that happen in my life...but God can! To be repentant means that we are so sorry and so disgusted
with our sinfulness, that we have the power to turn away from it. How is that possible without God helping us every step of the way?
It isn't!
"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name..." John 1:12
You and I don't have to wait for some wonderful "feeling" to come over us...we can come to God just as we are and allow Him to do what He does best. If everyone could truly understand this and embrace, it would be life-altering.
